LAKE LURE, N.C. (December 2, 2013): Two Lake Lure Classical Academy (LLCA) teachers are the recipients of Rutherford Electrical Membership Cooperative (REMC) grants totaling $1,410.50.
Mrs. Terry James, a seventh and eighth grade English teacher at LLCA, received an award of $660.50 for her “Grammar Perfect” project. The funds will be used to purchase hardcover dictionary and thesaurus sets for ELA and Creative Writing classes.
Mr. John Boland, a seventh and eighth grade math teacher at LLCA, received a $750 grant for a middle school “Circuits Lab.” The funds will help purchase “Snap! Circuit” sets to teach an elective class on how electricity works using hands-on circuit building.
“We are so very excited about receiving these grants,” said LLCA Director Jessica Boland, “as they will help create a circuits elective for our middle school students, as well as provide them with tools to help them enhance their writing skills in language arts!”
